It would have been more simple to comprehend if it wasn't for the fact that Pokemon fandom tried to 'explain' why there is a male Gardevoir and why Gallade has been introduced.
So far these fanon explainations go like:
>Wally got male Gardevoir because that is how NPC-generated Pokemon function >Just because there was once a male Gardevoir that resulted from aforementioned NPC generation process, CONFUSION struck >GameFreak made a whole new design (Gallade) just because of it Sadly, GF seldom releases any trivia regarding how they conceptualize and utilize their designs. Quite often some idea gets initially developed, gets shelved because it isn't the most promising moment to flesh it out, then ultimately gets repurposed due to opportunity emerging. Like that Clefairy/Hitmontop hybrid, for instance.
What was the process behind Gallade's creation, I have no idea - so much BS has been flung around for years.
