To those of you that play without grinding. Do you usually use the pokemon that needs to be leveled in your average trainer battle or do you use what is strong against your opponent?

What needs to be leveled.

When in a Gym, usually I fight the Gym trainers with Pokemon that are weak to the Gym typing, so they overlevel more, and then I can use the effective one for the Gym Leader battle and try to keep the levels equal.

Usually I battle every trainer and that's enough. Training on wild Pokémon is idiotic.

I figured out all you had to do was beat the trainers a while ago to be able to beat the game. I usually switch out to level up the one that needs leveling but it occurred to me that maybe even that is too much effort. Maybe it's enough, in a well balanced team, to just use whatever is strongest and eventually they will all even out if the typing of the enemies is somewhat balanced. I dunno though. I guess it depends on the game.
