Thank God. I actually preferred the original Ruby and Sapphire games to Emerald, for a small handful of reasons. One of them was the fact that I liked being able to side with one team or the other. Another was the fact that I hated how the "evil team storyline" ended without a climactic final battle and with a cutscene instead.

I'm pretty sure they fight, one wins and you have to stop it, or Rayquaza comes down, sends them off, but Team Magma/Aqua still go after it

But Crystal changed things for the better. Emerald had a much messier storyline with a shit climax, not to mention the fact that that Emerald Hoenn felt like a crowded subway train with how many trainers they crammed into each route.

They probably will keep a lot of things from Emerald, but I expect the team differentiation to return from R/S, just for the sake of keeping each version more unique from one another.

You can see that huge cloud on the bottom right, which is in the same place of the Battle Frontier in Emerald, is blocking it. You can even see fucking land.

There's no other location in Hoenn, or Pokemon world in general that is as big as that.

Yes, I felt Emerald was a step down in many ways, but I could see them working in a final confrontation with Rayquaza well and still have the version exclusive teams. I just hope they actually let us battle a Legendary in the climax this time around, like in the original Ruby and Sapphire games.
