/vp/ I need a little help. Im trying to figure out how to make a smogon moveset Machamp to use in game. I wanted to teach it Ice punch and knock off. I thought if I bred a Makuhita with a Hitmonchan, with the father knowing Ice punch, that it might work. I seem to be doing it wrong. Anyone able to give me pointers?

Hitmonchan and Medicham learn Ice Punch through level up, so you don't need a Makuhita knowing the move (Hitmonchan also knows Bullet Punch and Close Combat, might as well breed those on now as well). Breed the Hitmon/Cham with a female in the Machamp family and get a baby with Ice Punch (and Bullet Punch and Close Combat). Then breed until you have a desired female with the move(s). Then breed that female in the Machamp family with a male Sableye that knows Knock Off and you know have your Smogon approved egg moves!

Im the op, so to put it plain, I dont care if Im seen as a smogon fag. I dont battle competitively, I just like trying to recreate the movesets. Honestly whys it matter anyway, if you dont like the movesets and rules.. dont use them

If you're breeding one with egg moves, you might as well breed 4 useful egg moves onto it so people can choose which one they want.

Elemental punches + knock off? I dunno if bullet punch is a level up move or not

well, I dont really see the point of bullet punch. Ice punch is good at covering dragons and grass types, stone edge for flying types, dynamic punch for most other things, and knock off to hit ghosts. Its not perfect but its a decent wall for the battle maison.

I got news for ya, buddy. 90/80/85 defenses a wall does not make. Sure it won't roll up and die on the first attack, but It's not surviving more than 2 or 3 hits maybe. Bullet punch is suggested because it's Machamp's only form of priority, and sometimes you need to go first because 55 base speed isn't going to be outspeeding much.
