i think shelmet has the most painful evolution.
just imagine that your own fucking shell gets ripped of your body when you evolve, and its clear that its not some kind of dwebble that can just crawl out of its shell whenever it wants. no, its shell is attacked to its skin. and you know what that means? the skin is sensitive as fuck, and would probably break at any given moment.
its like when its summer, you're wearing shorts, maybe no shirt, you decide to watch tv for a while, its hot, you're sweating. hours pass by and you have to pee. you try to stand up. but your skin has gotten attacked to the sofa, you try again, you feel your skin getting strained. it hurts a bit, but its over later.
