So, is there anything I should know that happened major the last 2 games storywise? I started playing Pokemon with Ruby and it was epic but Pearl was shit and made me stop wanting to play. I just want to catch up on the story..

The plots of Black/White and X/Y are largely self contained, except for Mega Evolution in the ladder. Black/White actually had a pretty serious story about a little kid who is raised to run a cult and how you have to stop him, but X/Y's plot was pretty much a carbon copy of Diamond/Pearl's, save for Xernas/Yeveltal in place of Palkia/Dialga.

I'll have you know the games have become even easier (Masuda himself said the upper half of Unova, BW's region, was made in the form of an hexagon because he had heard complaints that the older region maps were "too difficult/confusing"), so it's possible ORAS will hold your hand through the whole plot.

No. Anyway, Black/White and their sequels aren't bad. I personally don't like B2/W2 but Black and White would be a good choice to catch up on the 5th gen. X/Y is very easy, made easier with the broken EXP Share, but it's optional. Regardless, X/Y is easier but with genocide.

They annouced the game is going to be a full remake so I hope to god it isnt. May/Brendan *could* use a one more battle encounter, but if they overdo the "rivals" like in BW and XY I'm going to throw a bitchy fit.

Pokemon isn't plot-driven mate. You're fine. If you're seriously thinking about getting into the R/S remakes then go for it. You're not missing out on much aside from some new Poke's and characters.

X/Y made it broken, it's now a key item, and with it on, every pokemon who doesn't battle, get's 50% of what the main pokemon get's.

So, let's say Chespin is on the field and he faints a Pidgey. Chespin get 50 EXP (just for example sake) and all 5 of the rest get 25 EXP.

In BW and BW2 you get a free lucky egg, and in XY the exp share gives 100% exp to the fighting Pokémon and 50% exp to all Pokémon in the party.

For some reason, people hate easy when it comes to Pokemon, though, to be fair. With EXP Share on, EV training has become amazingly fast. Guess if you play competitive, it's less time consuming.

You only get a small available during the initial run. Once you beat the Elite 4, you can then hunt down the rest.

You know what else makes the game too easy? Spamming Full Restores and Revives, something you could do in every single entry of the franchise, yet somehow for 15 years people that thought the games were too easy were smart enough to just not use them instead of bitching about it endlessly.
