/rs/ was the rapidshare board. If someone posted something like a mediafire or megaupload link somewhere on 4chan, it'd get recorded there, along with a mention of the board it was originally posted on, and the date it got posted. Since it had a search function, and most media files are named after their content, it made it very easy to obtain material you were interested in, even if the thread the link got posted in had expired years before (as long as the link itself wasn't dead).
