>>19639895That's a fair point, though I think what people criticize is specifically the /mlp/ board vs. the /vp/ board, not MLP vs. Pokemon itself.
I mean, even with the whole,
>fandom of a franchise for children with a large amount of porn/vp/ still surprisingly manages to leave that content away when it is not really called for, and stays within discussion of the franchise itself most of the time, or at least far more than /mlp/ does. /mlp/ at this point turned into a board that is filled with nothing but unrelated generals, drama discussions and sexual related stuff. If you manage to find actual discussion of the show there, you got lucky.
This obviously created the notion that /mlp/ is just a cesspool of /b/-related content with pony reaction images to accompany it, which is not far from the truth. Nothing actually substantial is on that board; if you aren't part of a general there (when most of them are already really shit or generals based on things that seem to go beyond anything conceivably normal, even for 4chan (e.g. moth ponies(?))), there really is nothing to look for on that board.
Leaving that aside, the MLP fandom in general does tend to create a lot more drama than Pokemon could ever be attributed. It's hard to explain exactly how, but when I was into it for some time, how much people created drama and discussions over things that were only a tangent to the show was mind-boggling. It's like that whole fandom had grown bored and had to create something interesting one way or another to stay alive and not die out.
