I've looked at all emails and no shows and making the pairings in regard to that. Unfortunately we don't have incredible numbers like season 2 so there might be a few people that are the last of their type already. These people will still have to battle. I had the exact same issues with Charizard when I was gym leader so I wanted to see how your team could deal with it, because mine sure couldn't. The only checks I ever came up with were silly things like choice specs Stunfisk, but the main issue is that you're forced into a guessing game whether your opponent is going to mega or not, and if they're already mega and have a boost off then there's even less you can realistically do.
What set do you run on your Ampharos? Are you running four attacks or agility? If you run agility, I noticed a good opportunity to set it up in round 2 when Volcarona was severely weakened and paralyzed but you opted to finish it off.
In my tournament matches and gym battles, the case was often that if I managed to get an agility off with Ampharos, the game was typically over for my opponent.
To this end, I also ran dual screens and wisp on my ghost Rotom to help it get the setup off easier. Worked really well.

I considered power gem for a period but the only thing I'd really want it for is Volcarona, and that bug can take a power gem after a quiver dance so I threw it out. It's a bit late, but I think Ampharos really benefits from the extra speed since it hits so hard and it has STAB dragon pulse in addition to thunderbolt and focus miss.
The biggest issue mono electric has with Charizard X is that you only have one practical option to OHKO it and then you're forced into a guessing game between picking thunderbolt or dragon pulse depending on whether you think it's going to mega or not. Unfortunately it's just not something that's in your favor since if your opponent has Charizard out before you have Ampharos on the field, they could usually get a DD off and then wreak havoc. Even if you have Ampharos out beforehand you're still forced to guess between one attack or the other and picking the wrong one will typically mean you lose. It sucks.
I'll be rooting for you in the tournament to make top 8 but I hope you can do what I couldn't, and find a good way to kill off Charizard X.

I just don't understand why you didn't save empoleon which was clearly going to be flinched to death and switch to aegislash or something? Iron Head would have KO'd and you could have brought back Empoleon to clean up aisle 5.
I don't think RNG had anything to do with it in Game 2 either, tbh. The trajectory was always in my favor.

Round 2 would have definitely gone differently if Toxic hit your flying fish the first time. You wouldn't have gotten a 2nd Dragon Dance off, so you would have either attacked the next turn or DD again. If you DD again, Skarm would have been at full health. If you attacked, Skarm would have lived with enough HP to bulk a flamethrower from Togekiss as mine is
specially defensive and gotten another Toxic off, thus ruining your Togekiss from stalling with paraflinch.
Of course there was always the chance the % dmgs would have worked in your favor in things would have gone exactly as planned.
As is the way of RNG.
Either way, don't mistake what I said for resentment towards you, but more so to the ParaFlinch strat.
