Does the new character designer hate drawing guys? All the male characters since BW2 have looked like total tools compared to their female equivalent. Siebold and Sycamore are basically the only decent guys from the bunch.

I like pretty much all of the designs so far for ORAS (besides maybe Tabitha). XY was ehhh and Nate in BW2 was fucking horrendous but other than that they seem alright.

Agreed. Most of the male characters look fine, and Archie in particular looks fantastic. He looks like a pirate/swimmer, which fits well with him being the leader of Team Aqua. I didn't like Maxie's design at first - still not totally sold on the shorts - but I've warmed up to it considerably. He looks like a nerdy tool because he IS a nerdy tool. The design is supposed to communicate aspects of his character. He also has a bit of a scientist look to him, maybe because he studies the earth.

Yeah I think Pyroar was overdone in the same way.

I like maxie's design for not being over the top despite an even brighter overall color scheme.

You can get away with a lot if you don't go full retard and Hoenn did a lot of that right. Well, aside from the tons of tentacool I guess.

I would have said his design makes me jizz in my pants if it were not for that fucking shorts.
Even if they wanted to make him look like a huge nerd or geologist thing, at least they could have given him a long pants since it won't make him less nerd-or-geologist-like since being nerd or geologist doesn't mean wearing a lame shorts.
Is it because his shorts and boots share same color? Nonsense. They could have painted his boots other color like black or something.
Srsly, I even think many of them dislike him.

I don't really have problems with the undershirt thingy. Seems like some sort of special attire designed to shield you of something.

I think the shorts are there to indicate that it's full suit as well, but shorts just look stupid.

Boots should just have a black accent in my opinion.
