>>19705120In this world, people with potential are either paired with or drawn to Pokes that help unlock their abilities; one character for example is an Oracle non-combatant and is partnered with an Xatu which helps amplify her future-seeing powers, while another warrior pairs with a Luxray that, when in sync with their human companion, can allow him to see through walls and detect hidden enemies/traps.
In the beginning you are allowed to choose any of the Pokemon in the room to be your permanent companion, and throughout your journey you befriend other Pokes to join you in your travels. Equipping Pokeman skills to your character can give you Slicing abilities like a Sneasle, or minor Flame Body powers like a Charmeleon. In battle you can access these skills as well as sort-of Limit Breaks with of your teammates, who fighting on their own (much like Donald and Goofy), or merely lend you their skills since they do not fight (for instances Abra giving you minor Teleport skills, but only warping around the field to avoid enemies rather than engage directly)
The difference between this and Kingdom Hearts would be that the players skills can develop in different ways, while discarding old abilities when changing Pokemon partners; stationary Psychic combat, or direct Fighting, stealthy Dark moves that punish powered-up opponents, stealthy Ghost type moves, disorienting Grass type moves, Bug-type moves that chip away at enemy stats while dealing damage.
Plus character customization, since you DO have to have some sort of distinguishing feature to link you to your Pokemon partners.
