I was playing HeartGold a few months ago. Within the first three hours of my playthrough, I walked into Union Cave, and went down to the basement, I ran into the first Onix I encountered in that file after a little while. It was shiny.

Still haven't finished the scenario yet, though.

it's a rule: when you find a golden onix, you're not allowed to continue playing the game. it also counts for gyarados

I wanted to tell everyone about Boldera. I've never entered her in the Pokeathlon. But I love her dearly.

I left off at Mahogany Town, right after I beat Jasmine and got the Mineral Badge.

I was training three Pokemon: my Feraligatr, the Spearow you receive from the gatekeeper at the north exit of Golderod City, and the Geodude I caught in Dark Cave. I kept a Butterfree that knew SleepPowder to aid me in catching wild Pokemon, and two other filler Pokemon.

How long did it take everyone else to find their first shiny?

Did you find it in completely by chance? Or did you use the PokeRadar? Did you get it by breeding--took advantage of the Masuda method, 'n' stuff? Or was a friend kind to give you one of theirs?
