Why is physical Greninja so bad? Surely the great thing is it catched people off guard.

And it gets some priority when it's physical.

Much poorer coverage on the physical side
Your moves are all lower in BP
Shadow Sneak is weak as shit
You don't have the bulk to use Power Up Punch

Catching people off guard only works if it's actually effective.

I used physical Greninja with King's Rock, Fling, Cock Slide, Acrobatics and Water Shuriken in Maison. It helped me a lot of times there. Haven't used it in competitive though.

it's a great cleaner in my TR room. my mons usually hit hard (can't waste those 4 turns) so opponents that arent KOed usually remain with few hp when TR ends, and I can power-up punch or u-turn them or the switch. This happened the other day:

>finish it with acrobatics
>m-muh special wall

Get into OU and learn to Shadow Sneak.
Of course the main purpose of SS is the immunity and mindgames for it's special set but still legit.

I've recently seen a SS + PUP + Rock Slide and Waterfall, shit was priceless when raped a top player because "Halp what do? I only know Smogon sets!".

In any case unless Sucker Punch tutor to make it mixed I see the special one being better, it does only miss Focus Blast but still cool.

Lower BP. It can't do anything that the special set or other Pokemon can't do better. Yeah you have Shadow Sneak, but at that base power you're not going to do much with it.

If you want a physical protean user on our team just use kecleon, slower, access to sucker punch, and pretty much the same attack stat.

I had a plan to go Acrobatics, Waterfall, Shadow Sneak, and either U-Turn or Spikes, but then they haven't released Flying Gem yet this gen so my physical Protean Greninja is just sitting in his box.
