>>19699996Right well in that case we should all be fucking using xerneas, kyogre, mega kanga etc in every single team ever, why bother wasting any slots at all when we can have pokemon like these on our teams
There should be no room for diversity and literally every single team should use the exact same pokemon and sets because there is no reason not to since you deem them "the best"
People like playing things different ways sometimes. Something being played in a different style does not mean it is any less viable than your preferred set. If you were creative with your sets and your team probably didn't consist of smogon's top 10 you'd know that.
If that alone doesn't sate you for some reason, here's another; surprise factor. Lots of people don't know how to handle shit like this since they're not used to seeing it and don't know how it plays. That alone can lead to wins a lot of the time since people underestimate it's potential greatly and don't see it as a threat.
Look at things like gardevoir and manectric. Before they became OU I used to hear lots of people say shit like lel enjoy using your shitty megas because they weren't commonly played and people underestimated them, now lots of people are saying they are viable and good because they are contenders for OU.
I know OU is literally just a tiering system and it's not used to measure how good a pokemon is, but a lot of people seem to never use a pokemon and then decide it's shit because it's not on the OU list, which is fucking dumb. A ton of people are very afraid to step out of their comfort zones and use custom sets on uncommon pokemon which leads to a lot of people never venturing outside of OU territory. If you think it's shit after you test it ok fair enough but don't just come to conclusions like that when you can't actually base it on your own experience, just shit that's been regurgitated from person to person.
