Verlisify is not a VGC player, he has never even top cut a regional and to my knowledge he's been to very few, as few as one probably. He's a fucking retarded furry who doesn't even make videos about VGC. He does not represent the community in any way

And yet, many players have been successful with niche pokemon for example Arash winning last worlds with Mamoswine, Sejun Park top cutting worlds with a TR team featuring magmar and marowak, a sableye making it into top cut, another TR team featuring Rhydon. and this season Ray won a regional with wigglytuff, Tony Cheung won one with a fake out/encore raichu, we're seeing tons of crazy shit. look at these teams

in the winter regionals earlier this year we see a second place team with a Chesnaught, a third place team with weavile/diggersby, that was linkyoshimario who has top cut three regionals with his team. not even going to list all the interesting mons, you can see for yourself. so much new tech in VGC right now, the meta is very ripe for it

There's 158 pokemon that have been used in Smogon tours at least once.

There's only 50 or so that are actually OU.
