Fuck. I don't think it would be possible for me to ever NOT do this. Hell, I don't even like using single-typed Pokemon because that's 1 less type I can represent on my team.

Some others of mine:
>Must have at least 1 attack on my team that's super effective against every type. If possible, just have all 17 types (minus normal).
>Nicknames have to fit thematically but still sound like a name.

I'm somewhat similar. For the first playthough I like to only use catchable Pokemon from that region. For example, In X and Y while some Pokemon are in the safari but they are catchable in the wild.

This was a major issue before I went full competitive, even when going through a game. Other stuff is pretty hit or miss.

>Organized the boxes by type, legendaries, shinies, competitive, and endgame teams (from all gens). Boxes labeled accordingly.
>All pokemon must be in a pokeball, no matter the costs.
>The main team must be at (or near) the same level.
>Do not use legendaries in my playthrough.
Started doing this at gen 4.
>Catch every new pokemon I see in my first next-gen playthrough.

Those are the main ones I can think of...

If I can't think of a nickname for a pokemon that fits into the theme I've established, I'll never use it.
Same reason why I don't use pokemon traded to me.

The only OLD I really have is that I save like 6 times every time I'm done playing, just to make sure. This happens in all games for me.

Other than that, I'm golden. I prefer dual types because of coverage, but most water get ice beam and fighting types often get rock and ground moves.

In older games i also NEVER used unique TMs at all until i could reliably clone them, only TMs i could buy, so everyone had shitty/subpar movesets, gotta love my Mach Punch/Dynamic Punch/Sky Uppercut/Leech Seed Breloom i had in Emerald.

I also caught the pokemon that im gonna use in a regular pokeball, even if they have a really high catch rate, like how i spent literally an entire hour trying to catch a Metang in B2.

Used to be that I would not allow more than one pokemon per type on my team, but I have recently come to realize my personal rule is more like:
>Overall team cannot have more than 2 or at the VERY most 3 pokemon weak to the same type
This allows for some dual-typers that share one type sometimes.
>If at all possible, each pokemon has a different pokeball
Causes issues since I usually use a starter, since 'gift' pokemon usually use the pokeball. I can usually get over it though.

In my "story" team I must have a flier, be it the region bird, a zubat or in XY's case a Noivern

I must have a Fire, Water, Grass and an Electric type

My last mon must be one capable of either taking a lot of damage or deal a lot of damage (usually the region's pseudo, except in XY, where I use Aegislash)

Black/White was suffering. 2 rivals and N's endgame team. Made me love Galvantula all the more, though.

Fuck Serena for whipping out an Absol 2 gyms after I've been using one.

Everything has to be in a regular Pokéball, no exceptions. Gotta keep everything uniform. Things like Mewtwo are hard as hell to catch, but I manage it eventually.
Everything is nicknamed.
Gender autism. Like, certain Pokémon are seen as all one gender. For example, I'd never ever use a male Weavile.
Forever saving in the center of the Pokéball in the Pokémon center.
Saving with an even number of hours/minutes on my game.
Having an army of Syncronize Ralts all with a different Nature to catch new Pokémon with.
A False Swiper on the Team in any place there are wild encounters, just in case of a random Shiny.

Most pokemon must be caught in poke-, premier, or luxury balls. Ones I like or plan to use for post-game stuff (or breed for competitive) are caught in either a Nest or Timer ball, because they are my two favourite designs. I try to keep each team in the same type, though - no mixing Timer and Nest.
I try to keep a roughly equal mix of Male and Female on my team.

Legendaries must be caught in a ball that matches either its type, design, or lore whenever possible. For example, Dive Ball matches Latios's colour scheme, Timer Ball matches Dialga's lore. If no appropriate ball exists, they must be caught in a Premier or Luxury ball.
Legendaries usually left un-nicknamed. If nicknamed, the group must have a common theme; Regi trio named after mythical ores and metals, for example.
Looking back at the Gen III legendaries I caught as a kid rustles my autism something fierce; they're all in ultra/great balls, and have stupid nicknames only a ten year old would think are cool.
