I think that, honestly, I'd keep buying the remakes even if they decided to do just that and nothing else.

There's no point in remakes, it'd just make them redundant and boring, and besides Sinnoh isn't exactly a popular region.

Now that Hoenn is remade, GF can focus to build gen VII with two(?) new region, completely hundreds of new pokemons and more new stuff.

Yes, but you need the ds / ds lite. What about the people who started playing with dsi / 3ds?

the ds lite is really old you know. (when the ndsi was released on 2008, the ds lite sales began to go down)

I don't believe so, but anyway the 3DS is their main push and the WFC is shut down. DP isn't supported and BW is being phased out.

people will debate for years about whether or not we'll get DPPt remakes, and then they'll happen (just like HGSS and ORAS before it), it'll shock all the people who doubted remakes would happen again (for whatever fucking reason), then the cycle will begin anew and everyone will start speculating about gen 5 remakes

this will continue happening until the series finally concludes. people don't seem to grasp the concept that game freak and nintendo like money and remakes are a good way to milk a generation for cash twice.

We'll definitely get them, it's just a matter of when. But why would we get another R/B/Y remake? I always figured yeah it'd be endless remakes but it'd just sort of follow along. The next handheld console will get DPPt, the one after that will get B/W/2, then X/Y, etc.

Except the 3rd gen cartridges are failing, internal batteries are depleted. Sure, they still work, but not like the gen 4 and above games.
There is actually a need to refresh 3rd gen, whereas 4th is still fully functional(minus the wifi shutdown).

My personal opinion would be to have a new region + pokemon and then develop it further in the 3rd game/sequels. GF might just hold off 4th gen remakes/sequels till 8th comes out. By then, the original cartridges would be in low enough supply.

The connectivity issue of what exactly? You can transfer from 4th to 5th with 2 DS', then 5th to bank. The only issue with 4th and 5th is the no-wifi part. That's only for long distance trading through the gts or online battling(and who does that on older gens anyway?)

Though I understand this point, everyone who says this seems to be overlooking one important thing. Third versions never really had much differences until Emerald. It was easy to do it with Crystal in HGSS, but Emerald's plot was significantly different than RS, making it hard to combine Emerald into ORAS. We'll have to wait and see what they do with ORAS once it comes out. If there is no reference to Emerald's plot, I think it is a good possibility they may remake Emerald.
