Think of a main villain of a non Pokemon game.

Assuming it's not going by anime rules, Ash is about to try and fight them from taking over the world with his 6 strongest most powerful Pokemon. Serena is watching too. Will he win or should he just give up?

This snake in the grass would probably give all his Pokémon O-Pins or something, but Ash would probably win through some kind of BS Deus Ex Machina like he always does, probably has a second player pin/badge or something. Removing protagonist powers it might be closer, Kitaniji is a planner, a thinker, a chess master, might equate to good tactics, or a lack of up front capability.
I know he's not the true big bad, wanted to avoid spoilers,

Joshua would win, with Ash being the corner stone of success, Ash thought he was saving the world when in fact he defeats the people trying to save the world, all while Ash believes Joshua is his friend.
Of course Joshua would offer the battle, while raising the stakes and with Ash still reeling from the whole "I used our friendship to use you as a pawn in my scheme for world domination and you gladly followed", I'm not too sure how it would end

He was the one pulling all of the strings though. Although Airy played a more prominent role in the story she can't be called a main villain.
