Fun fact: MegaZard Y, in addition to looking more like standard Charizard, also has a redone version of Charizard's original cry. Standard Charizard and Charizard X no longer use that cry as of Gen 6.

Both zards deviate equally from regular zard, X just seems to deviate more because of its color scheme.

When the Megas first came out I really liked CharX, the design is cool, the stats and ability are great, and that typing is one of the best in the game. However Nintendo shoehorning this thing into everything they can is really fucking annoying.

I just like charizard Y more. The only thing that bothers me about X is the shoulderhorns, because they look so horribly plastic, almost like they were glued on there.

Charizard Y is just sleeker, more aerodynamic, looks like it could actually fly if he wanted to... also I'm absolutely loving the canard foreplanes and the miniature vertical stabilizer they gave him.

From the perspective of an aerospace nut, megachar Y is like a wet dream.

Orange X looks worse than than Black X, but Black Y just looks really awkward.

Makes me appreciate the versions we got that much more. Y is the "natural progression" type evo. It focuses on the Fire and Flying traits with the larger wings and tail flame. X is all about that Dragon type: the color change and design changes emphasize that well. I like both in their own way but X is my preferred choice.

That's stupid. Even though Charizard is my favorite, and I've always wanted a change to /Dragon, the spikes and the drastic color change really turned me off.

Logical progression Y is way better for real Charizard fans, IMO.
