It's least appreciated because 90% of the pokemon you ran into were kanto, while the johto pokemon were either in headbutt bushes or in late game locations.

Unown isn't worthy of mention as any kind of positive contribution to the franchise.

Ho-oh isn't even that interesting after we already had Moltres.

I loved it back in the day too but man there was so much wasted potential.

Well, I guess not wasted, HGSS fixed a lot of it up, but man, it took a while

Almost everyone loves johto, but because of GF fuckery, it's not the best.

They really should have retooled HG/SS.
