I always thought the natural progression of Pikachu in the series would be finding a mate, having an egg, let ash have a Pichu and a Pikachu and then as time goes have Pikacu evolve into Raichu and Pichu into Pikachu so the series could have two mascots.
Shame it never happened. Maybe it will case they finally introduce a Raichu mega.
