I think it's totally romantic in-context. I don't even see how I took them out of context in the first place.

The bond the two develop just feels romantic to me. It's the same way as when you ship two characters who aren't canonically in a relationship in any other game.

I'm not that guy, but I wouldn't say it's the same thing. Grovyle isn't built up as much as the partner is, he's just an evil guy and then your partner until he dies shortly after. Not much character built up between those two parts, or at least not as much as the partner.

The Hero's bond with Grovyle was different in that they had been longtime partners and met while the Hero was still a human.

The Hero meets his/her partner as a pokemon and their relationshop kicks off extremely quickly.

It's enough of a difference to lead me to believe the Hero and partner were into each other. And again, it's really just my interpretation. I don't see why you're getting so flustered over it.

I find the moments they share to be very tender.

The moments at night in Wigglytuff's guild made me think of my own interactions with my romantic interest.

The moments on the beach read, to me, as the partner having a crush on the Hero.

If that makes me autistic, then fine. I don't draw or write about it, but I simply enjoy thinking there's romance.

In Sky I had this. I kinda autistically stole the pairing from the commercial, but I just thought it was so perfect.
