In Gen 6 the chance of a shiny appearing is roughly 1/4000 or something like that, making them more common than previous generations. If you use a foreign parent whilst breeding the chance of a shiny appearing increases.

I've been breeding for my ORAS all shiny team. I'm not breeding for IVs (although the ditto holding destiny's knot has a good spread) or even natures (and I've been reasonably lucky in the one's I've gotten) as it's a playthrough team and I don't want them to be OP (I'm already concerned about the exp boost but I might employ a larger roster to make up for it.
