Maybe Crobat. Possibly Xatu. I could see Metagross or Salamence getting one. MIlotic and Flygon are possible. I can't think of any from Gen 5 that would warrant a mega.

Those feels, anon. Especially since it's a lot more logical for it to be /Dragon than that other one. Don't even mention the egg group.
Most grass types need help; though I must mention ice too. but it's not likely that they will get it.

None of which COMPLETELY CHANGED THE TYPE. They added a type or replaced one with another, but not completely. Dunsparce is neither a Fairy or a Dragon. It is Normal only. No Mega has yet changed the type completely.

Because as of now its a pokemon who escapes by digging
If it gets a mega they will probably go with that

If it gets a evo its likely to be one based on its slight ability to fly maybe you scape by flying

If they didn't care about Rai, they would've shuffled it off to obscurity long ago. They've kept Rai all this time. You can argue that it's only for consistency and what have you, so I am going to propose a project for you. What do kids really think of Raichu? What do the Japanese really think of Raichu? Are they aware Pika has an evo? Do they prefer it over Pika or not? Marketing need not apply. The marketing is biased to begin with. (Besides, Rai has merch even though tons of other pokes do not, so eat that!) I believe Rai to be every bit a part of Pika's popularity as anything else. You can't have Pika without it's evo. Also, I don't want to know what people outside the fandom think of it, of course they won't know a bloody thing other than what's plastered all over everything. I want to know from the people who DO care. Is Rai really as insignificant as you claim it to be?

One thing that bugs me about all these Dunsparce evo artworks: Dunsparce is based on a famous cryptid that still has 'sightings' within the past decade - on the level of bigfoot over there.

why doesn't anyone I dunno, make the evo also another cryptid? Keeping it with Japanese cryptids it could evolve into Isshi (Japanese Nessie) or if you want to keep it a snake - the Hoopsnake (much like the ourobouros). Hell it can plausibly evolve into the fucking mothman given those wings as long as you keep the patterning.
