Playing White all day when it came out. Got to Nimbasa City and went to Route 5 to train for gym. Go in double battle grass and find Solosis and shiny Trubbish. First shiny I ever found. I don't even care that it is literal trash.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
After finding it I continue playing and go to the gym and lose to Emolga Double Team shenanigans. Go to the Desort Resort to train and the first Pokemon I encounter there is a shiny Darumaka. Best night of Pokemon in my life. Took five generations of Pokemon to find my first shiny and I get two in a row.

My first one was a shiny sentret in silver. Though I didn't really know that shiny pokemon were a thing, I thought my game was broken or something and I got really scared and ran away, turned the game off and didn't play it for a couple of days.

I hadn't seen one until like a decade later until I was grinding in victory road in white 2. I never really encountered Golurk before and wasn't really looking at the screen while grinding but I noticed one in particular and I thought to myself "holy shit is it shiny?". I couldn't really remember what regular Golurk looked like but I thought I'll just catch it anyway and if it's not shiny then whatever (I never caught pokemon like that att, too lazy, I usually just had my 6 teammates and legendaries, that was it). It was shiny and I was so stoked.

Right now in XY I've really got into getting shinies though. I am 2 away from having a whole box full. It's fun to do once you're finished the game and bored but I tried going back and doing it in previous gens and it wasn't as fun or rewarding as it was in XY.

AH YES! A shiny thread. I have many tales to tell to yee oh great /vp/ brothers and sisters.

A long list actually. Well. At least I think so.

Rapidash - my very first shiny. I was talking with one of the neighbor kids about EV training and how natures worked while running around in Sinnoh. The amount of joy I had was great! Blue Ponyta yo.

Staraptor - I decided to start over my Diamond one day in vacation with the family. I couldn't sleep, and just an hour into the game I ran into this beautiful Starly.

Hippowdon - I was hatching eggs randomly, still just getting into the swing of battling when I was like "That Hippopotas looks different from the others..." And thus it was. A shiny. Didn't even have the nature I want though.. ._.

Pidgeot. - Day 1 of HG, just after getting the Poke'Balls. Bam. Shiny Pidgey. I was astonished that I found one so early on!

Bibarel. - I was grinding on a restart of Platinum one day when BAM. Sparkle sparkle. Out popped this disappointing fucker. Took a few minutes but I caught it.

Furret. - During an EV training bit on Soul Silver this adorable little Sentret jumped out being all white and light and stuff. Pink Furret is cool.

Stoutland. - First shiny of fifth gen. Adamant nature. Sand Rush. It's awesome.

Patrat. - Caught it while EV training. I didn't evolve it because I thought it's eyes looked cool.

Then, another Lillipup... dubs get.

Steelix. - I got it while hunting for Shards in White 2! Dat gold Onix.

Seismitoad. - I was literally just looking for all of the TMs in Black when BLING, shiny Palpitoad hopped up to me. I really like the froggys of Pokemon, so this made me happy.

Krookodile. - I caught it in the dessert of Black 2. Just jogging along waiting on my interview to a job just for this to pop up with good luck. The contrast in colors is pretty cool too.

Then sixth gen came and got me to complete the Pokedex!

I masuda'd a Furfrou, Noibat, Growlithe, THREE Charmanders (But wait, there's more!)

I ended up allowing my brother in law to restart the game so he could play, because he wanted to get into Pokemon. I wish I could have transferred that Sharpedo.

I hadn't heard of shinies yet at the time and it happened to be the first krabby I had run across, so I caught it. I didn't even notice it was green until I took it out to evolve for dex completion and then noticed the little sparkle for the first time.

Oldest shiny I've got that could be brought over to current games is a Kyogre. No shitting. I was resetting for nature when the shine happened on my 4th reset. It turned out to be timid. And after that, all other wild shiny encounters I ever got had unsalvageable natures - modest lillipup, calm seviper, adamant female ralts....

Pretty sure my first shiny encounters were spearow and doduo in either gold or silver, can't remember which. Can't remember if I caught them either, I don't think I thought they were a huge deal at the time. Also found a shiny doduo in leafgreen in the safari and it ran away ;_;

I was playing Pearl, and was looking for a Munchlax for my in game team.

And then, one day, when I checked my shaking trees out popped a shiny _combee_that was male.

Thankfully I found that I got a lot of shinies in July and August due to date based nature of the RNG, and kept setting it to those months and also found a shiny pikachu, machop, and total bro numel.

I gave him to my water pokemon enthusiast fried as gift. Currently said frillish evolved into jellicent has been transported to same friend's X cartridge, on which she is trying to compose full shiny water pokemon team.

I actually found my first today when I was hunting for an Axew in Connecting cave in Pokemon X, and I met a horde with Whismur, and one of them was a shiny. I caught it but I just think it sucks because I wanted it to be a cooler pokemon.

In firered I got a shiny pidgey on that route you can catch growlithe at. I gamesharked it to death and made it a level 100 solid gold pidgeot. Its dead now.

Others I have come across include:

Emerald - Torkoal (deceased), Poocheyena before I had pokeballs, Safari Girafarig, Whismur
HG - Zubat
X - Charmander

and i'm sure there is more but I wouldn't remember

It`s a dragonair right now. Hardy nature which is what I wanted, shed skin, 252 Ev's into attack with the rest being split between HP, Defense, and special defense. It doesnt have a wonder scale or extreme speed. I was hoping for the moveset Outrage, fly, thuderbolt, and dragon dance.

First shiny was a cubone in og silver. Lavender cave. Caught it and I remember not knowing if shinies would stay shiny if evolved. Saved trained and evolved it. Dumb me was fresh adventure lol and restarted games for playthroughs all the time. Sapphire version I ran into a shiny clamperl on the bus to school. Gorebis i think I evolved it. Anyway later that day farming heartscales hooked a shiny luvdisc. Again, even at 14 I still was all fresh adventure! And reseted. Quit Pokemon because no other friends played after ruby sapphire. Got some silver for nastalgia and knew a guy who still played. Headed to victory road in soulsilver by the rest house. Shiny Swagsire. It's been a solid bro on every playthroughs of gold silver I didn't pick totodile. Rock smash ampharos. Does less that a third. Defence lowered, but not a big deal right? Nope rock smash 2 finishes the job.

In x and y to many to count. I've chain fished radared breed horde battled tipped and friend safaris with 5 shines this weekend alone. Still got 300 hours in before I even saw one

Yeah. It sucks. But hey.... it sucks.

Now, the rest of my shinies have been awesome. Shiny Tanglea, Shiny Riolu, Shiny Kirlia... so there's a shiny triple battle team... I'm currently working on getting three more shinies through chaining (can't get shiny charm, missing most legionaries.) and i'm pretty hopefull.

I got me a ratatta in firered early in. I was lucky to receive the first 5 balls I got from delivering the parcel, and caught it immediatley. I never transferred it or anything.

Later on in emerald, I derped in the battle frontier in the pyramid. I found a shiny gengar there because fuck me.

In platinum, while I was at the cheatu grinding for spa. Evs, I found myself a ghastly and caught it immediatley. The saddening thing is that I don't have another ds to transfer them over to my later games.

Doesn't battle tower and the like have pre programmed Pokemon in it? Like there was someone who battled a shiny espeon on YouTube twice I might be wrong but there was a shiny shifter in battle tower in ruby and it haunted me every time I would test a team and see it sparkle

About a week ago, I traded a random Pokemon on Wonder Trade, and kept trading what I got in return on WT again and again until I got a Fennekin. I stuck it one the GTS and asked for a Krokorok, since I was trying to get a Krookodile. I check a day later, and the trade animation begins. I actually thought to myself "It would be great if it was shiny". Lo and behold, it was. Thanks German guy!
