Why are nearly all the XY dragons so shitty? Nearly every dragon in previous gens had at least some time in ubers/OU. This gen it's just Mega X-zard, and Mega Garchomp who is only OU cause its base form is.

Discounting box legendaries, XY released the highest amount of dragons, but most are awful.

I think its because they are too "balanced" or average this time, nothing absurd like the previous dragons where all their bests stats were the stats they used, and cumdragon is defensive.

Salamence had insane mixed stats and Garchomp had good attack, the best speed of any dragon and good defenses just because, even Haxorus had all the stats in the right places.

Also i didn't know Hydreigon was UU, what makes Haxorus better than him?

Poor stat distribution for the normal dragons. The Mega Dragons actually stand quite well on their own, except for maybe M-Chomp, who I feel is outclassed by normal chomp

Finally, to answer your question, OP, dragons were nerfed this gen. I guess they were trying to make shittier pseudos (it's spelled pseudos, not psuedos) this time.

Because XY from had one of its goals to be pushing Dragons down from the "Ultimate" Typing to something more on par with the others, Not only with Fairy adding a weakness, but also by making the Powerlevel distribution of Pokémon with the type more varied.

Fairies have higher SpDef on average.

Also, I just do not understand why Kyurem is BL2 and not UU. Insane bulk, fairies resist 2 of its weaknesses, can run nearly perfect coverage with Ice Beam/Earth Power and still carry Iron Head to nail Florges in the switch, as well as a Draco Meteor nuke.

125/90/90 is bulky as fuck. 130/130/95 means it can nuke most things.

Its a combination of:
•shitty move pool
•just slightly too slow
•ice typing gets btfo by everything
•no set up moves like DD or even calm mind
•worthless ability
then add the simple fact that its a crowed and fiercely competitive battlefield, being good is not good enough you have to have multiple harmonizing factors going for you to make it.

They didn't need to be OP, they just needed to be not awful. And this is the same gen that made Mega Milf, Aegislash, Mega Mawile, and Charizard-X.

I mean, can you tell me that Adatability Dragagle would have been overpowered? Yeah it'd hit hard, but it's still slow, physically frail and weak to earthquake.

And Goodra is the first psuedo to be terrible in its debut gen, as well as the first mono-typed psuedo. If they intentionally made the new dragons not OP, they went overboard.
