Is playing hacks like volt white worthy? i have the prejudice that all romhacks are amateurish bullshit but i've heard good thing about this hack. Also another well made pokemon romhacks?

OP, you should stay away from anything with new plot, it is all fanfiction. I can already tell you that you won't like it. Anything else is fair game. Possibly minus "difficulty hack #142" because some of them are just plain bullshit.

I actually had a great time playing Volt White. The gyms are real challenges but not absolutely bullshit, a lot of Pokemon get buffed, and the variety of Pokemon you can find is obviously amazing.

Those hacks are absolutely worth it in my opinion.

But yeah, VoltWhite is incredibly good. I played it recently and it's genuinely challenging and requires you to look around in places you otherwise wouldn't in Unova for Pokemon you otherwise wouldn't use. Really anything by Drayano is great.

You dingus. VoltWhite is literally just a retuning of White. It's more difficult but also gives you more options to deal with the harder challenges. It's better than BW in nearly every way.

This. The forced Double/Triple/Rotation battles on important trainers are just about the only thing I didn't like about the hack, but that's just me and iirc the earlier version don't have them so you can look for those

I'm currently playing Storm Silver and having loads of fun. Along with BBVW 1 & 2, these are the best hacks out there.

I also liked that FRLG hack where you start with the Cinnabar Gym, I forgot the name of it.

Pokemon Glazed is pretty good, no fake mons, decent difficulty (a little easy IMO), good selection of pokemon. My biggest complaints are that there is a reusable Spore move tutor that will teach any pokemon (broken as fuck) and that you get so many good pokemon there isn't much of a point to using most of the early route shitters.

Pokemon Altair/Sirius/Vega is REALLY good. The creators of the hack are making another couple called Procyon/Deneb but I don't know if they're done with it yet.

It isn't the quality of the writing, it's because big plot-involved hacks like to pile it on and force you through what is normally fanfiction-tier shit. It's like B/W's problem but worse.

If I wanted to do anything even remotely like that I'd play Planescape Torment because it's story is better than Pokemon will probably ever tell.
