Living with Mega Kangaskhan involved using Mega Kangaskhan and Sableye, Rocky Helm Ferrothorn/Garchomp and multiple other ways of dealing with it, and ways of dealing with those ways of dealing with it, on every team. All of them. It was decided that a tier that entirely revolved around one pokemon, where everyone used it and games were usually decided by whose Mega Mom got safely on the field first with its checks weakened, wasn't fun, so it got banned.
They could have lived with it, but it was ultimately decided that the game would be extremely shitty if it was allowed.
