I used to be like you OP. Then I played White 1 and then went on to Black 2. Gen 5 got me interested in the series again, although I've had people tell me to avoid Gen 4.

Play HGSS, Platinum, BW, BW2 and XY in this order.

There arent any shitty pokemon games, dont listen to these haters. EVERY pokemon game that you havent played before is fun as fuck because you know, its new to you. Exploring the different regions and raising new pokemon is the best about it imo.

Besides from that, you cant say a game is shit until you played it yourself.

It's only the new "GEN 1 WAS THE BEST" because of nostalgic bullshit from the kids who started in Hoenn. It's the same reason why people insist that Final Fantasy VII or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are the best of their series. They're utter garbage but that's what people grew up with.

Not the OP, but I skipped Gen 4 until after XY released because even if I was a massive Pokemon fan during Gens 1-3, I didn't get any iteration of the DS until SMT:Strange Journey came out and by then I had forgotten about Pokemon for the most part. I picked up X on release day since I had just finished SMTIV (terrible game btw) and I saw a trailer in my youtube sub box uploaded my Nintendo. I ended up buying my kid brother a 3DS and Y the same day since I didn't want him to have to skip Gen 6 the same way I had to skip Gen 4 since he was pretty hyped about it.

Pretty average for me, seeing as how I was diagnosed with ADD. But I've never not finished a Pokemon game, and I've honestly been playing X way longer than I generally do with Pokemon games. It's not me that's the problem.
