Hey /vp/ I'm playing through Leafgreen right now and I need a fighting type. Is Hitmonpunch or Hitmonkick better? I've never used either of them.

Lee is better. Chan gets some pretty good versatility, but it's useless, since LeafGreen doesn't have the physical/special split.

Without the physical special split, Punch can't use the elemental punches. I think Kick has the better movepool of fighting moves by level up. Punch gets Sky Uppercut, whereas Kick has HiJumpKick (only 85 BP this gen). They have the same BP and accuracy, but Sky Uppercut has no miss penalty. However, Kick has other options like Brick Break, Jump Kick, etc. He's also faster.
