I remember some of my later runs getting an onix or a machop, but my first time, I simply got many recovery items and sacrifised my cut user paras to her final roll.

in gen 4 however, I got my flaffy to growl her attack to oblivion and to static paralyze her. was kinda easy actually. i had mre problems with bugsy.

How do you not figure this one out? Bring in a Pokemon that can lower it's accuracy and spam it to hell. You get Mud Slap from the first gym ffs.

You can cheese most gym leaders by playing the lowering stat game.

The game fucking gives you the dig tm five minutes before the gym battle.
Protip: Rollout's effectiveness only stacks if it's used on consecutive turns.

Then there's also the geodude line for defense or the pidgey and sandshrew lines for evasion.

Oh and the game gives you the option to trade for a fighting type in the same city.

It's not hard.

The same way you solve every problem in a Pokemon game: grinding.

I was mostly only training my Quilava at the time so I kept attacking it until it was KO'ed.

Then I had to hurry and leave for school so I shut it off without saving and did it again.

I powerleveled for a bit, came back and whipped her, but I don't know too many people who beat her on their first attempt, especially since no one was ready for it.

lol at all these people saying shit like "hurr, teach dig TM, catch Geodude, durr you're all so bad at the game." No shit if you plan ahead for a gym it's easy as fuck.

The whole point of her Miltank bullshit was that you weren't expecting the rollout train when you first played.

I mean yeah, if you know it's coming of course you know what to do.

Don't remember how I beat her in Gold (I'd probably remember if it was difficult), but in HG T had a Geodude/Graveler with me which shook off her attacks doing chip damage.

Wasn't even overlevelled - paralysis and flinch chance ensures that miltank never deals enough damage to matter. I also played in the afternoon so Bayleef's Synthesis healed more (I was too cheap to use potions)

Overleveled quilava with an "one-man-army" strategy.

Since I was a kid I always played with a specific rule: My starter always had to switch together with the rival starter and fight until the end. The same with the Gym leader's main mons. I had a specific strategy to cover this disadvantage with the moves he learned by leveling up.

Starting with smokescreen till the end so he couldn't hit shit, following with as much leer as I could. Fire attack to wreck everything and quick attack against anything that resisted fire. Worked pretty well agains Miltank
