>>19859677Eh, I can see why Mr. Mime was honestly. To me Fairy type implies traditional fairies. Not the typical pixies and shit that you see nowadays that are always cute and friendly. I'm talking the fae creatures out of legends that were treated with almost the same reverence as deities. They could bring good fortune and plenty on you if you gave them a proper offering, but could just as easily steal your children or lure you into a deep forest to your death if you offended them. Fairies are supposed to be some kind of mysterious force of ancient power.
As far as I see it, Fairy type is supposed to represent some kind of mysterious power that nobody can quite understand. Psychic types are easy enough to understand in the pokemon world, but what about Clefairy and it's unusual powers? If you look at the move Metronome, the majority of pokemon that learn it naturally are Fairy, the only exceptions being Mew (which can learn every move) and Munchlax, and by breeding (which is a natural process), the only new ones are Chansey and Happiny, who most people think should be Fairy anyway. It's a mysterious power that can summon up basically any move in the entire game. Mr. Mime has Psychic powers, yes, but it's always said that it uses mysterious abilities. Basically I look at Fairy type as a way to label a pokemon as having strange or unusual abilities that can't be fully understood, i.e. alien (in the non-extraterrestrial way) or fae abilities.
I do agree though that there are several pokemon that deserved to be or would have been a great fit for Fairy, including all you mentioned plus the Chansey line, Lilligant, Jirachi (Seriously, Jirachi is just SCREAMING to be Steel/Fairy), Audino, Munna and Ninetales. Gamefreak really dropped the ball on that one. They had free reign to re-type any appropriate mons and they left some of the most obvious choices out in the cold.
