>>19862523Meowth is prominent but it is in no way the mascot. A mascot of Pokemon in general maybe, but not gen 1 in particular by any stretch.
...So? Steelix is barely memorable, it isn't regularly used in marketing, it hasn't recieved much special attention since its debut, etc etc etc. Scizor is a more liable candidate, but even that's a REAL stretch.
Plusle and Minun are the Pikachu clones for that gen. They're cute and have a neat ability together, but that's pretty much it. They're not used in most marketing, and haven't received much attention since their debut, just like Steelix.
Gallade is a forgettable evolution of a gen 3 Pokemon that was COMPLETELY overshadowed by another Fighting-type from that gen, which was Lucario. Lucario is unquestionably that gens mascot, you don't have to like it (I don't) but it's one of, if not THE most obvious and reinforced mascots.
No, Audino is not the mascot for BW just because it can be found on pretty much every route. Being common as shit and about as valuable does not a mascot make, nor does being something that never got much attention or marketing. N is closer to being BW's mascot than Audino is.
Sylveon was shown early to show off the new type, but aside from that it didn't get much attention in-game or otherwise. Floette was important to the plot, but wasn't shown to be anything special during promotions or anywhere else. Greninja is obviously XY's mascot, Ash has a Froakie, it's appearing in Smash, and it got TWO (admittedly shitty) signature moves compared to the other two starters who only got one.
