>>19860297I'd imagine you mean "what's the best all-around set", since the "best set" is subjective, and heavily dependent on team composition.

I've never had problems with Zard Y, (granted, I stopped playing Showdown in December, and I'm sure a lot has changed higher on the ladder,) and I've never run one. But if I did have to run one, it'd look like this:
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solarbeam
- Earthquake / Focus Miss
- Roost / HP Ice / Focus Miss / Dragon Pulse
Flamethrower and Solabeam are self-explanatory. Earthquake is there because it puts a dead stop to Heatran in one turn, before it can Roar you out. It's more reliable that Focus Blast, which is primarily there to cover for Specially-defensive Tyranitar. Roost for recovery, or HP Ice for situationally taking down Dragons.
Why no love for Focus Blast? I feel like you'll want to swith out of Tyranitar anyway, rather than rely on the shaky accuracy of FB. If you're predicting a switch from your opponent into Tyranitar, I'd personally rather switch out/hit it with Earthquake and then switch out, saving my sun for later.
Heatran can eat a Focus Blast, needing two to kill the Specially-defensive set. If you miss once, you're wasting sun. Given that Heatran is probably a safer switch-in on a Fire move than SpDef TTar, I think it's best to prepare for Heatran... Not to mention, it'll hit the odd Flash Fire Chandelure for huge damage as well, which you won't be able to do with any coverage move except Dragon Pulse.
The only conversation left is whether or not you need neutral coverage, or need another attacking options for Dragon. If you do, do you also need an Ice move? Then take HP Ice.
