Whats the average life expectancy of a Pokémon?
is it 10-15 years like a dog? or about 70 like humans? does it vary from species to species? which pokemon would live the longest?

You're telling me a pidgey only gets kod by a level 100 mewtwo psychic? Come on.

Though cemeteries do exist so they obviously aren't invincible.

A lot of Pokemon seem to be really long lived. For example, starmie, staryu, and all the Pokemon that can use recover probably can last thousands of years. Wartortle easily live over 10000 years, so by extension the entire line is long lived.

Ghost Pokemon probably take thousands of years to expire, if they do. I could see ghastly eventually just fading away after a long, long while for example.

It depends on the pokemon.

AZ's pokemon, specifically Sigilyth and Torkoal, seem to be extremely long lived as AZ is well over 3000 years old and doesn't seem to be the type to catch more mons.

Ghosts are most likely eternal, however, as many of the legendaries likely are. As >>19865261 has pointed out, it's unlikely most bugs live very long, excluding things like, say, Volcarona, Scizor and Scyther and similar.

Sounds like a fun thing to think about. I think as a whole it's safe to say starter pokemon live a lifespan around humans, or just a little shorter than humans. Legendary pokemon seem at least near immortal, but if they die I imagine they're reborn. Torkoal lasts for fucking ever, those niggas probably lives for 300 years. As for types, steel, ghost and rock probably live the longest while bug, grass and normal live the shortest.

This is the sort of thing I wold attempt, but unfortunately, I also feel if I were to attempt it, I would end up either contradicting myself or I would end up regretting it. There is only one thing I can say for certain, and that is that I don't think a lot of pokemon can live forever, they can eventually die. Once you get up to a certain point in the legends, they are the only things that can live forever because they don't really have a real body per se, they are the actual manifestation of the forces of the world. They can have any appearance they want, it's just that they choose to manifest themselves in the forms we know. So, technically, they are immortal. I still haven't resolved ghost pokemon, but I think I'm just going to settle on the matter that somehow they are recycled souls, and they can't die because well...they're already dead. Not all souls become Ghost pokemon, though. One must appeal to Giratina. To do that, you essentially have to want to escape death by serving Giratina.

bullshit, do you know how fucking long 10000 years is? this is another example of retarded pokédex entry. Yes, its a fanstasy world, but there are some obvious limits, specially regarding the pokédex.
