He's mastered Mega Evolution, all the Starters can Mega-Evolve instead of just one.
Also he's evolved his Pikachu into Raichu and it also has a Mega Evolution.

I think we all wish this were the case.

Blastoise and Snorlax are very good for taking those Sun-boosted Fire attacks.
Blastoise isn't supposed to be "dangerous", it's more supposed to be "useful", with moves like Roar and Rapid Spin.

Also, have you ever been on a mountaintop in the summer? There's much less atmosphere between you and the sun, and you're occasionally even above the clouds.

The main problem with using perma-sun to enhance his difficulty is that all you have to do is bring a mon that can induce other weather and he's back to being weak.

Perma-perma-sun. Efforts to induce other types of weather will fail.

OR:

One or more of his Pokémon carries Sunny Day, but using Sunny Day reactivates the perma-sun instead of lasting five turns.

All this except the mega evolution thing, perma-perma sun like mentioned above, and also definitely using Espeon rather than Lapras. Magic Bounce Espeon is the devil.
