Well, most people playing RBY and GSC these days probably never touch multiplayer features anyway. Thankfully this isnt BW or XY so the single player is still perfectly playable by itself.

Same reason you couldn't from Gen 2 to Gen 3. That wasn't a hardware issue, it was due to a massive change in the structure of the Pokémon in the game.

Is there a reason that they can't implement IR/wireless into the games?

I thought that the reason that no Pokemon games were on virtual console was a game freak issue, but this changes that.

Too slow. Haymaker decks with Hitmonchan, Scyther and Electabuzz (and Pluspowers, Bills and Double Colorless Energies) is way faster and once you've powered up Hitmonchan he can KO most basic Pokémon in one hit with a pluspower.

You know what fucked me up? I watched the anime all those years ago and there was that small arc about getting Charizard to learn Fire Spin. It was a super powered Flamethrower, with red and yellow fire instead of like orange. Pretty sure it was in a spiral shape too but I can't really remember. And I had one of the base set Charizards, and it had that same Fire Spin attack that did big damage. So naturally I thought Fire Spin was a really cool attack.

So I play the games and one of my fire types learns Fire Spin at like an early level, can't remember which one, and I thought what the hell that can't be right. So I check that shit and it's a fucking weak ass attack that traps the opponent, not a mega thick ring of blazing fire that the anime and the end all be all popular card hyped it up to be.

What the hell.

I don't think there even was a GBA game for TCG, and IIRC Charizard was threatening if set up but 100 damage was pointless at the time because so little had that much health, and it took so long to set up, you'd basically be spending a few turns waiting to attack while your opponent, if they were any good, could use that time to kill Charizard off.

It was both a hardware and software issue.

Hardware: GBA uses different voltage, even while running in GB or GBC modes, rendering GB/GBC-GBA software linking impossible.

Software: the data structure in Ruby and Sapphire was overhauled and rendered incompatible with the old structure.
