But we don't.
The main reason dragon was OP was because the type was filled with psuedos and legendaries, and because they had almost perfect neutral coverage with their STABs (STABs included the 120 BP Outrage and the 140 BP Draco Meteor) as well as expansive movepools.
Fairy is not filled with pseudos or legendaries (though it does have Xerneas who is ridiculous.) There's really only two extremely good fairies, in Azumarill and Mega Mawile (who are good mostly because of their ridiculous attack stat) who have additional weaknesses due to their secondary typing. All the others are good at best, but not overpowered. Also, unlike dragon last gen, there's three types that resist it (which is pretty average) though it should probably get another weakness. Maybe to Psychic. And Play Rough is their best Psychical STAB (95 BP with imperfect accuracy) while Moonblast is their best special STAB (95 BP,) unless you want to count Pixilate Fae Scream of Death.
It's OP on paper but there's no Fairies that can actually make the typing OP (okay except Xerneas but it's banned in OU and VGC.) Like, Fairy made Clefable go from RU to the top of OU in a gen that had ridiculous amounts of power creep. That's how good Fairy is. But there's no broken Fairies yet.
