I'm going to start with Mudkip when the R/S remakes come out, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a moveset for one. It'll be my starting one, so no egg moves.

Any suggestions?

The Mudkip line has dogshit for level up moves. Waterfall and EQ being the cornerstone of its offensive set relegates it to using weak special attacks for most of the game.

Obviously in Hoenn you need to seriously consider water HMs.

I've noticed and it's just...awful.
I'm mostly thinking of a moveset to use him in the battle facilities at the end of the game, so in-game movesets are less of a concern.

If you want a physical tank, Scald/EQ/Toxic/Roar. If offensive Choice Band or mega, Waterfall/EQ/Ice Punch/Stone Edge.

Let's keep in mind that there might be some decent move tutors in the remake that will probably be available during your play-through; but the question remains:

What kind of cool moves would you LIKE to see on Swampert?

I'm a little unsure to be honest, hence the thread!
I mean, he could make a great bulky sweeper if I mega evolve him (with rain), but I think my mega slot will be taken by Sableye.

I'd like him to be pretty tanky, but it'll totally lack recovery outside of rest (leftovers on another 'mon), so if he could get drain punch I'd be set fo' lyf!

My Swampert set is
EQ
Waterfall
Hammer arm (though if you're using rain dance for the speed boost you could pass on that)
Avalanche

Since you can't have egg moves, i'd replace Avalanche with Stone Edge, though I'm not sure where you get the TM for it in R/S.
