Brock and Misty stayed for over one season as well. And both of them stayed through different gens. They could do this as the "reason" she stays, but there doesn't necessarily have to be a reason in the first place.

Anime in general can be interesting, deep, unique and shit, but Pokemon anime sucks. As mentioned earlier, not only in this thread but in general, pokemon anime is so constant, no character development, no smart moves from the protagonist. I couldn't care less about Diancie honestly. I really don't like her design. It reminds me of Victini for some reason, More of a promotional material than a pokemon. I don't even think GameFreak designed her as it really lacks the Pokemon charm. It sucks how marketing now pushes GF to make Pokemon they didn't even want to make in the first place. There's a pizza commercial that has Ash and Dawn holding hands. There's an entire movie dedicated to shipping Ash and May. Ash and Misty were shipped endlessly by the producers.

If you mean that pizza commercial for Christmas, they weren't holding hands, if I recall correctly.

Though it does make you wonder, they pretty much went out of their way with Serena, even saying fuck off to Misty by making Serena the "first girl".
