I want to like the Emerald arc, because I liked what it at least tried to do with The Battle Frontier and with tying up Gen 3's story arc, but I think pacing ultimately killed it and they invested too much into the mystery of Emerald without a good payoff.
Though tying him back into being the kid from Oak's speech at the end of GSC was pretty cool.
Really, Emerald needed a good-sized arc, the same as Platinum and HGSS (though I think HGSS handled its arc the best out of the three). This makes me worried about how BW2 is going to turn out, and maybe a bit worried about ORAS.
Also, I can't be the only one that wished they completely resolved Sird's story in Gen 4, because her falling off the face of the earth is weird given how involved she was in the plot, and having her show up now is going to add to the problems of her being fucking everywhere in Gen 3 and 4. It's frustrating either way.
