Well, maybe, but I found the cards in the second to be way too few and kinda boring. If they'd at least add 4-5 more sets or whatever they called.

The second kinda fixed that by adding Team Rocket, but I want more than that.

Also, Imposter Oak doesn't make the opponent discard, but reshuffle the hand back in deck, so it doesn't work

I've played it several times and I'm playing it now on the VC.

Just like the AI gets extremely lucky sometimes, I get extremely lucky too in other occasions.

Getting paralyzed three times in a row is not even that strange. There is a 12.5% of probability that it will happen if you receive three consecutive paralyzing attacks. That is perfectly possible.

But no, people just complaing when the luck is not on their side, because people love complaining. When luck is on their side they prefer to ignore it and simply believe they are super skilled or something.

As long as you have all the energies and trainer cards you should be basically ready to sweep everyone in the game. Most of the opponents decks cannot handle the level of disruption and efficiency of this deck. A lot of times they can't even do anything because you removed the energy from all of their mons as you 1-2 shot them, or if they try to switch a stronger poke in because their active is about to die you can switch them back with Gust and get your prize and/or win.

Except, you can actually time the flips in this game to always be heads. The most I've gotten was 14 on Barrage with Exeggutor. It takes a bit of practice but once you get it, the game is incredibly easy - You always wake up and go first when you get to flip, always get paralysis and bonus damage, etc. etc.

I've spent wayyyyyy too much time on the two roms...

Guy that posted the decklist here. I'm not sure if you are aware, but coinflips in this game are NOT random or determined by the computer. If you get the timing right you can actually determine exactly what the coin flip will be every single time based on the position of pikachu's face.

But consider this

That deck honestly isn't that good... Only one type of pokemon means you can get fucked by weakness and resistance and won't land double damage most of the time, everything needs a lot of energy to run and you're based around a 3 stage evolution so it's slow to get started and every time you lose a pokemon it's at the cost of a ton of cards and then you have to get to rebuilding it again. A decent aggressive electric type like Electabuzz hitting the table early would rape you before you even got started.

I literally beat a deck that beat every single NPC. It was centered around Dragonair's Hyper Beam removing Energy; combined with Energy Removal causing more loss of energy... basically; the AI lost all of their Energy Cards and couldn't do anything.

I can't recall what the side tactic was. I never even evolved the Dragonairs; no Dragonites. I think the deck just used Coulorless pokemon.

For some reason, even if I emulate a lot, I never touch them again after the first try. But my console downloads produce more interest to play in me. Don't know why but I feel determined to finish this game, something I don't feel when I emulate.

Also it's great they acknowledge this game/series exists. They could sit on a table and discuss "we should make another".

I could swear I had this game all those years ago, but I just got the legendary cards and I didn't recognise any part of the game except the reused sprites. I used a Fire/colourless deck to start then switched to a water/psychic/colourless to beat the rock gym and used it until the end.

I defeated the rival at the end by using gust of wind to bring out his moltres with no energy on it and weaken it so he never bothered to put any on it due to the risk of it dying, then moving damage from it to the benched pokemon with gengars power until I won, if I just killed it then his other benched pokemon were all capable of sweeping me and I only needed 3 more prizes to win.

I beat this game by making a alternating Eevee team (Flareon/Jolteon, Flareon/Vaporeon, Jolteon/Vaporeon) with alternating Magmar/Electabuzz, Magmar/Lapras, Electabuzz/Laprass.
Just switch the deck around according to who you're playing against. Easy mode.

Electabuzz can only win if it goes first since Squirtle can't evolve turn 1. That doesn't even matter if you set up a second Squirtle on the bench your first turn. Electabuzz dies if the player doesn't go first though and needs 3 Energy to even do real damage to Blastoise and there's energy removal for that.

The problem with pokes in this game period is that a lot have high energy costs for high damage. Most people try to win by using weakness because of that but this doesn't change the fact you still need 3 turns for a 3 energy attack.

Blastoise is the only deck needs just two turns before it can start streaming 60 damage every turn. It's simply the best deck.
