>>19969691I expected that Masaru would learn that not everything can be solved with a fistfight, but the series seemed to prove him right. Still, it was better than any pokemon anime, I'd even say that Yggdrasil was even more sinister than the D-reaper, that part where he refers to itself as a computer and the digital world as a simulation it's running, yet it's clearly not a man-made thing, creepy as fuck. And Tohma did get some nice character development.
In general, I like that Digimon anime have clear beggining and end. Pokemon anime just isn't going anywhere it's just a pretty showcase of the new pokemon of every generation made to sell more games and toys, Ash will always be 10 and characters that haven't appeared in a while just disappear, no matter their previous importance (case in point: original series Mewtwo). They should have ended Ash's story at Johto, the silver conference and the Gary fight was the perfect opportunity to do it, but they squandered it. Instead they recycle plots and generally throw any sense of conitunity out of the window. I stopped watching midway through hoenn and only occasionally watch some episodes to see if that's changed, but nop.
I also love Xros wars, I know people prefer digievolution to digixros, but i liked how it facilitated digimon interaction instead of just human-digimon interaction. And the series was a super upbeat, steoretypical action shonen, yes, but it showed some self awareness about it, and the main character, despite being a hothead, isn't an idiot. I'bve heard xros wars' last arc, Hunters, sucks, though, so I haven't watched it. The ending of the death generals arc is a perfect ending for the series IMHO.
>>19970226Doesn't really bug mine. Individual series are consistent, every one is a new continuity with different rules, for example savers adheres pretty rigidly to the games/tcg power scales, while in xros wars strength is determined by plot.
