There is literally no way to not make his mega sub-par. Even if they do decide to give him tough claws, he gets raped by earthquake and fire blast. Unless they decide to buff his speed considerably, there really is no reason to use a mega stone on him especially since there are way better options out there.

And here I thought people on /vp/ knew shit about Pokemon. Having even common weaknesses doesn't make a Pokemon bottom of the barrel trash or whatever. It is a combination of a Pokemons typing, moveset, ability, and stat spread that make or break a Pokemon. Without all these elements, you're guesses likely won't be getting anywhere.

Metagross was a huge physical attacker, with it's physical contact moves, I really don't get where "BUT WHY TOUGH CLAWS" is coming from, it's a fucking great ability for it

Then again, most of /vp/ are pretty terrible at actually battling

My only issue with Tough Claws is that it makes Iron Fist pointless.

MegaMeta with Analytic and reduced speed but better offensive/bulk stats would have been nice.

His point is valid.
With Guts you do not fear will-o-wisp and stuff.
With Speed boost you have to protect to gain the boost being unharmed and you may still be outsped by scarfer on turn 2.
But Claws works exactly like Iron fist but on wider variety of moves. Also it's more powerful.
