Use a phone or other hotspot enabled device and create a hotspot with the name: NintendoSpotPass5 Encryption must be WPA-2. Connect to the hotspot using your 3DS, enter the mystery gift menu and select download over internet. Enjoy m8s, comes with opposite charizardite to your version.

Got it working. From New Zealand. Ran the Nintendo Zone app that appeared when I connected, let it create a file then it would let me download. Might be I've never used a Nintendo Zone or something, so it didn't know how to properly download the event.

Well, got mine. Had to delete the fancy vivillon card to get it working though. Using a Huawei Ascend G300 (Old 3G android phone) 1.Ensure both wifi and 3G are on and connected. 2.System Settings/Wireless & Network/More../Tethering & portable hotspot/Configure Wi-Fi hotspot 3. Call it NintendoSpotPass5 4. I chose no security here but some seem to say you need WPA2 5. Press OK and it'll take you back to previous screen, press on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot and it'll start it up. 6. On 3DS go to connection settings and delete any saved ones. 7.Add the new NintendoSpotPass5 as connection 1. 8. Homescreen will soon give a notification about Nintendo Zone. Let it do its thing. 9. Load up Pokemon XY 10. Mystery Gift/Receive Gift/Get via Internet Hope this helps someone.

I've absolutely no idea what to do anymore, I just can't get it to work. I deleted the only connection in range and deleted all wondercards. On the 3DS home menu the Nintendo Zone button is glowing, so obviously I'm doing something right. However, when I try to receive the gift over internet, it just won't connect. Halp.

Been to Game to get it, and it looks like they just have a hotspot set up like this (except it connects automatically); you still have to do mystery gift via internet rather than local wireless, and it still has a chance of giving Vivillon instead of Charizard.
