Palkia has less bulk (100 speed is shit) and water/dragon STAB are shit in a meta dominated by Kyogre and Xerneas.

dark mono-stab is better now that steel was nerfed and there aren't really other darks besides darkrai that i can think of. sleep is still great, though not as debilitating as it was before, and sludge bomb is legit on it. weakness to faerie is unfortunate, but xerneas is killing darkrai whether it's weak to faerie or not.

overall, still quite good.

The fact that Palkia gets Rain-boosted STAB while also having a quadruple resistance to Water in a tier where Kyogre exists puts it so far ahead of Dialga it's not even funny.

It seems like every time someone says Ho-oh is good all they talk about is Sacred Fire, which leads me to believe Sacred Fire is the broken element here rather than Ho-oh itself.

With ZardX from its base stats alone it looks to be an equal mixed sweeper while Reshiram is more focused on bulk and special attack (with a usable attack stat)

One dragon/fire type is for offensive purposes, the other is more bulky. Though yes, some other dragons do outclass Reshi, everything gets outclassed by something.

New question: has Ho-oh without Sacred Fire ever been tested in OU? The lack of it's signature move would make physical attackers/anything with a rock move a check I imagine, and Regenerator wasn't enough to save Tornadus-T from BL.

There's no reason to bring down ubers by banning certain moves when there's already a bunch of stuff that should be sent to ubers, first.

I'm normally averse to complex bans yeah, but this is just a matter of suspect testing Sacred Fire itself imo by seeing if the only Pokemon (sans Smeargle) that has it can be balanced without it.

Basically I'm curious if a flat ban of Sacred Fire would fix Ho-oh like a flat ban of Sand Veil fixed Garchomp.

And Ho-oh would be pretty ridiculous even without SF. Its stats are just too high and Regenerator is a godly ability. Basically all it would need it hazard control to be an enormous PITA.

There's nothing to "fix" about Ho-Oh because Sacred Fire isn't the sole reason it is where it is. If anything, such a decision would effectively neuter it since it has 0 good physical Fire options.

And it isn't the same situation as Sand Veil Garchomp because Sand Veil only made it better is specific situations. It functions perfectly fine both with Rough Skin and without any Sand to activate its ability.
