Why is /vp/ so full of Kanto hate?
I don't think it's the greatest region, but I do have as much fun playing a Kanto game as much as any other region.
Also, bitching about post game is stupid. RBY/GRBY were the first games in the series. Cerulean Cave and completing the Dex were enough of a post game at the time. The remakes got the Sevii Islands, one of the coolest post games. If we were to get another remake I'm the near future, I'm sure they'll boost it to fit in more modernly

The region is absolutely bland and feels artificial. Completely straight line routes for the most part. Everything is monotonous, there's no difference in biomes. Everything is plain grass or slightly mountainous but nothing more. Nothing to explore on them, they only serve as the intermediate between Town/City A and Town/City B. It doesn't give the sense of adventure that other regions do.

Same reason anything is on the VC. So people, new and old, get a chance to play the game or okay it again. Red/Blue not being in there yet may be a sign that we may get another Kanto in the future. They wouldn't not put it on the VC for no reason, unless they're waiting for the 25yh anniversary
