I've already had enough of it. Part of me wishes nostalgia wasn't such an important part of the series, because it means a remake is probably likely. I won't be playing if it is though

HG/SS was good enough holy shit it's time to move on man. Stop feeding gf money just so they can rehash the shittiest games in the series. You KNOW they were only good because back then you knew no different and you were also probably 8 - 12.

They need to remake gen 4. Idgaf what yall say that was the best gen. Best meta, and best overall game. The characters were interesting and not one dimensional like this gen(see tierno, Trevor, everyone else). The soundtrack was AMAZING. Music is paramount to create the mood of the game, and each bgm was orchestrated to perfectly portray an atmosphere. Did you not feel peaceful is eterna forest? Or did you feel sluggish and uninspired when you were battling Cynthia?

Music was just the icing on the cake though, the additions of much needed evolutions were the heart of gen 4's superiority. I mean, cmon, magmortar? He's a fucking clown with a flamethrower as an arm. Need I say more?

Anyway, gen 1 is mediocre at best. Take your nostalgia goggles off.

I'd say that the only character that wasn't one dimensional was Cyrus everyone else was just pretty bland and forgettable.

Too bad it didn't portray the right atmosphere for the game it was put in most of the time.
Although it was a great soundtrack, it just didn't fit in.

This is another thing, a lot of the cross gen evos were useless compared to other mon.

Anyway, I'm not saying it was a bad gen but it certainly gets more praise than it actually earned.

I stood in line at a duty free shop that catered to American Customers at 5:00 A.M (lined up 4 A.M) to be the second in line, behind a really cute girl and this really large man. I was old enough to comprehend Pokemon, young enough to not understand the world. It began to rain and neither my Father nor I had an umbrella. The young girl who was maybe a little older than me (by a year) turned around to hold the umbrella over me. We didn't talk, just stood there as our parents spoke. My dad was fluent in Japanese, I wasn't. She and I didn't have to talk though. Our bodies were Reggie. In seriousness, we waited until the shop owner arrived just to buy the two versions. Not a bit of it was in English. Our Dad's took us to a near by train depot where the girl taught me how to play and we even traded our first pokemon exclusives. She restarted her game four times. Three to give me the starters. Her cable was bright purple, mine was the standard black. Anyway. She taught me the menus, without talking, and we spent what to me seemed like ages but in reality was only a couple of hours. After my Dad and I departed I never saw her again but I have her name. I found out the name she wrote down, all these years later, were pieces to her name. My dad translated it when I was old enough to understand. She gave me her first and last name through three digital pokemon. And I just have her three regular named pokemon. I didn't even think about naming them, I wouldn't of known how. I still have that game boy, Japanese gameboy that I bought. I still have the original 3 released in Japan.

I waited in line in New York, sunny day but cold in the morning, sixth in line, on the day New York Electronics Depot opened (later to become the Pokemon Central) and I bought my reserved Red and Blue copy.

I thought of her as I played it, and named the three my first middle and last. I transferred her pokemon over to mine. And used them and left my three on that Japanese gameboy.

That's why I hope they never stop making Gen 1's and improve upon it.

So I can atleast relive a time in my life that was special. Something, a tradition, that I've met all the way to X/Y. Buying the same game, reserving them, and picking them up the day(mdinight) they are released in New York so I get them first when they arrive in America.

I don't have my dad to go with me anymore, but the memories are still there. I'd love to do that with my son, someday, and hope he'll be as excited as I was for Gen 1 with his Gen. And maybe will have the same nostalgia I do when I think about Green, Red, Blue, Yellow.
