Assuming you haven't already abandoned your thread OP, do exactly what I did:

>Receive Vivilion from your home Wifi connection
>Download a program called 'Virtual Router Manager' and use it to set up a connection called 'NintendoSpotPass5'.
>Delete your home Wifi settings from your 3DS
>Connect to the NintendoSpotPass5 instead
>Go into Mystery Gift, receive gift via Internet
>Bam, you now have your Charizard.

I did this twice yesterday with my X and Y games.

You have to be from a PAL region, in case it wasn't already apparent.

I probably should have mentioned you need a computer with internet connection to do that stuff with the virtual router.
