Anyone knowledgable about certain aspects of pokegen, I have a question.

Is there a specific rule to go by when it comes to the fateful encounter option when making pokemon?

I understand the concept that certain event pokemon have it, and its a wifi download thing only, but do I apply it to EVERY single wifi distributed pokemon? Or only certain ones?

Does the Pokemon have an ingame event to trigger something?

IE: Shaymin getting the gracedia flower? Then yes.

However, I've noticed sometimes it doesn't make a difference on some legendary pokemon. I generated a Black 2 Heatran, and made two, one flagged fateful, the other not. So just toy around with it anon, you'll find out what kind of Pokes need the flag and which ones don't.

Forgot to mention that both heatrans broke through Pokemon bank into Y, meaning that on some legendaries, being flagged fateful won't make much of a difference as far as legality.

Are you irritated by having mons that can't be possible even if it's legal? It's usually something that irritates me, like having an ID that's perfectly 11111 or 22222, being caught in a cherish ball and things being shiny when they can't possibly be. (AKA Reshiram + Zekrom, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde)

So even if the fateful encounter MAY work, it still might not have EVER been a thing that happened. So what I suggest you do is look up any event pokemon with special mystery gift moves and any event pokemon caught in-game before you decide to try pokegenning.

It's not hard to do, bulbapedia and serebii both have a list of every single event ever made.

Forgot to also mention, you are able to transfer Flower Paradise Shaymin in a cherish ball to X/Y. It's an illegal ball combination, yet I think all shaymins have the marker to be allowed through with a Cherish Ball.
